It is now Labor Day, isn't it a day of rest? I ask that of my neighbor when I saw him priming and painting his garage. He replied , it was a day away from cooking and cleaning but not from catching up on outside work. I liked what he said about the cooking and cleaning (it doesn't work like that in my house, my husband is home) so I guess it is a day for catch up. Tuesday will be here and it will be Monday all over again. Two days of work in one day, UG!
I love the weather, cooler but warm in the afternoon. In fact it was down right cold the other morn whenI went to water. I wonder how many days my garden will have to grow. It was so hot for so long it all but stopped growing and now the cool weather is slowing it down...it just doesn't know what to do.
I think I have fall fever...I am differently in a funk. I think I just need a good cry, which is hard to do with dh home. I have to hide when I cry at movies...he makes fun of me.
I need to start with Christmas...I really need a plan to get everything done...but can't get everything else done in the house so I just keep putting it off. I don't think a promise note for Christmas will work.
Time for pickles, it is such a process but worth it when I finish. Just want to rest ...but that doesn't get anything done. UG!!!!!!!!!

For the garden of your daily living
Plant three rows of peas:
1. Peace of mind
2. Peace of heart
3. Peace of soul
Plant four rows of squash:
1. Squash gossip
2. Squash indifference
3. Squash selfishness
4. Squash grumbling
Plant four rows of lettuce:
1. Lettuce be faithful
2. Lettuce be kind
3. Lettuce be patient
4. Lettuce really love one another
No Garden is without turnips
1. Turnip for meetings
2. Turnip for service
3. Turnip to help one another
To conclude our garden we must have thyme
1. Thyme for God
2. Thyme for Family
3. Thyme for friends
Water freely with patience and cultivate with love. There is much fruit in your garden because you reap what you sow.

Is it just Wednesday?
I get to go shopping with my dd. That doesn't happen very often, Yah!
Bailey is scared of the sprinkler. She has never seen one, which tells you how often I water the grass. She would just stop and not know which direction to go to get away from it. Then she would bark at it. So funny, but she didn't like it when I laughed at her. Guess I wouldn't like it if I caught her laughing at me either.
The count down is on. Why does time go by so slow when you want to do something fun and fast when you don't want to do something. A puzzle of life , I guess.
It seems like forever since I have seen all my children and grandchildren. Even when they live close , time just gets away from us. I guess it makes the time together more special. I try not to bug them(but really everyday would be fine with me).
I have a plan for the talent show, if I have the nerve to do it. Sometimes my good ideas don't pan out. Sure is fun to watch though!
We have been working with Bailey to not go crazy when someone comes to the door. Well we have changed our training. Dh empty a small can of candy and I had the thought to fill it with rocks and shake it when she does something wrong. We shook it, she really doesn't like it but we haven't tried it at the door. Wish us luck.

Almost there
I feel like a broken record...garden is doing great. Everyday I see more babies, can't wait to share with the family.
Trying to plan to water the grass(don't tell my dh) he only sees more mowing. But with the 4th, I don't want to take a chance of a fire and it is really drying out with the hot weather.
Robin is freezing water for us..I have a big sack to give her full of a lot of containers. I know it will take a lot to keep things cold.
I will start making homemade ice cream Thursday. It is more fun to do it with everyone but I don't want to miss out on any fun so I will make it and freeze it for later.
Poor Bailey sure doesn't like the hot weather...she is glad to come in after I water out back. We shaved her and it is starting to grow back...hate to think what she would have felt like if we hadn't shaved her.
She found a ball when she was supposed to be doing her business. UG!!!!!!!!! She forgets what she is supposed to do. All she does is run past me daring me to catch her(like I actually could)she throws the ball then runs to catch it. It really is funny...if it weren't so hot out. I have to go to the gate and knock on it. She thinks someone is there and comes running. So far she hasn't cought on to me. If it weren't so hot I would feel bad tricking her.
Three days and counting....can't wait to have everyone come. Sure hope they can stay the whole weekend!

Here comes friday
I'm trying to get ready for the 4th. The problem is if I do it to soon, I will have to do it all again. The heat is kicking me!!!!!!! So I have to reserve my strength. Inch by inch it will get done. I really just relax and enjoy the 4th without too much work on those days. Good idea, hope I can pull it off.
I am helping with the blood drive, our church is the one to provide the food and serve it. I said I would make some of the potato salad. Man, I haven't made that much potato salad in years. Hope I can remember how to do it. We are serving sloppy Joe's also, and cookies(homemade) the last time I gave blood we got OJ and a cookie. Maybe we can get a crowd in with the smell of food.
My garden it doing great!!!!!!! I love to see all the babies growing. The melons are going crazy...I saw in a mag. that when they get so big they hung a pantie hose so it held the melon without it being on the ground. I'm going to try it...it looks funny but if I can get the melons without them getting yucky on the ground it will be worth it.
Bailey loves to be close to me while I work...if I'm in a hurry it really bugs me. When I iron she is just right under my feet, not sure if she thinks she is protecting me from that hot iron. The other day I was working in the kitchen and had an idea to put in some music. I put in Rascal Flatts and probably had it to loud , but I was singing and really getting down. Then I noticed , no Bailey, she was in the living room looking down. Wow, if I had know she didn't like my music , I would have put in in sooner.
Cooler today, hope it stays for a while. I keep checking on the weather...it always rains on the 4th and with the long dry spell, who knows what will happen.

the day after
After church we had a pot luck dinner. We had fathers, grandfathers, and not yet fathers. Usually the women and children go first, but on fathers day they went first. It is so funny to see them go first...you would have thought they had won something wonderful. The young men and little boys also went with the fathers. Again their little faces were just glowing.
The men of the church help teach the young men and boys to be respectful and let the women and girls eat first. They wait their turn and learn a good lesson . But they were in hog heaven yesterday. You wouldn't think that they would get such a joy by going first but they knew the joy of eating first if only for one day.
It is HOT...it hurts just by being in the sun just for a few minutes. My poor plants are taking a beating, I just can't keep enough cool water on them. No rain in sight. I have to get out to do some running around..I am putting it off as long as I can!
May have the girls down this week. Yah, can't wait. What a joy they are! And so much fun to be around. They can't get here quick enough.
The 4th is coming...Cooler temps. would be appreciated but if not the house will be cooler till the sun goes down.

middle of the week
Just made it in from watering. To do it right it takes a long time. Everything is growing very well. I picked my first vegs. today, Yah!
It is supposed to rain today...it sprinkled just enough to make the car dirty, UG.
I have started to exercise again, I will be glad when my body gets used to it! Can't do much but every little bit will help , I hope.
Bailey came in to me yesterday, and she had red coming from her mouth and on her chin hairs. I panicked, did she swallow something that cut her mouth , was she bleeding from her stomach? A million thoughts went through my mind in a matter of seconds also could we afford the vet. bill. I went into the hall and there I found a red jello pkg. that had fallen off the pantry shelf...I was so releaved , it was hard to correct her(I did very sternly). When I told dh, he just laughed at me. Later, she got up on him and burped , he said "smells like jello". So glad he was having fun with it.
My body says, take a nap, my work says no. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
